Material Goods Donations
Would you like to donate good quality second-hand items to asylum seekers in Melbourne’s west? One of the core purposes of West Welcome Wagon is to provide material aid to our houses in need.
URGENTLY NEEDED ITEMS:
- Washing Machines – must be in good working condition
- Fridges – must be clean and in good working order (we do not accept large, double door fridges)
- Mattresses – clean and free of rips and stains, in Single, Double and Queen sizes
- Bed Frames– Single, Double, and Queen sizes
- Cots with matching Mattresses (clean and free of rips and stains)
A simple rule of thumb: If you wouldn’t be happy receiving it, please don’t donate it.

- Children’s Items – bassinets, cots, prams – safety rules apply, please read the Donation Guidelines, blankets, clothing, brand-new nappies (still in pack)
- Children’s Clothing – In good condition
- Adult Clothing – in good condition
- Home Entertainment – smart TVs
- Kitchen Items – toasters, rice cookers, kettles, knife sets, cutlery
- Linen – blankets, sheet sets, doona cover sets (single, double, queen size only)
- Household Items – washing machines, beds (single, double, queen size only), fridges, small dining tables, chairs, chest of drawers, rugs
- Toiletries – Unused

- Used microwaves
- Large, heavy furniture
- Furniture with glass inserts
- Dressing tables
- Mirrors
- Lamps
- Large size couches
- King single mattresses and bed bases
- King size mattresses and bed bases
- Stained, ripped clothing or bed linen
- Stained, ripped mattresses
- Electrical items that are not in working order
Donation Guidelines
As the items we provide to our clients are often their only possessions for some time, we require all donations to be of good quality and in excellent working order. This means no tears, stains, chips, or broken pieces.
How to Donate
If you wish to donate, please follow these steps:
- Read Our Guidelines: Familiarise yourself with our donation guidelines.
- Email Us: Send an email to donate@westwelcomewagon.org.au with details and photos of your items.
- Do Not Deliver Without Approval: Please do not bring items to our warehouse without prior approval.
Service Areas
We operate in the following six local government areas (LGA) of Melbourne: Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley, Wyndham, and Melton. If you live outside these areas, we cannot collect large donations however you can deliver your donation to us at our warehouse.
Donation Collection Arrangements – Large Goods Only
For large items like fridges, washing machines, couches, and beds, we may arrange a pickup if they are located within our service areas. Please note that pickups are managed by volunteers and may take up to four weeks. If you have a specific pickup date, please let us know when you email us so we can assess our capacity. Please Note: We DO NOT collect small items.
Donation Drop-off Arrangements
Large Goods

- Do not deliver without prior approval by emailing donate@westwelcomewagon.org.au with description and photo of item/s to check that we can accept the donation.
- Drop-offs can be done during our business hours of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8am – 4pm or on Saturday 10am – 12pm. – Please note that you will need to be able to unload your vehicle yourself and bring item/s into our warehouse as our volunteers are unable to assist.
Small Goods

- Please check our Donation Guidelines to ensure that your donation meets our needs and requirements.
- Small goods can be dropped off at our warehouse during our business hours of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8am – 4pm or Saturday 10am – 12pm.
- We do not collect small goods.
